Juan Martin del Potro is ranked number in nine in the world, just ahead of his city-mate Monaco. There have been as many as five ATP playing pros from Tandil on the circuit at once.

It's hard to predict when you'll see good tennis. Last week's Bank of the West Classic WTA tennis tournament had a pretty weak draw, trapped as it was between Wimbledon and the Olympics. Few stars were willing to make the long flight from London to California and back to London for the event.
