Agassi Lacks Character, Insults Sampras
Andre' Agassi may have hired PR people to reform his image, but he's still the same self-absorbed lout of "image is everything".
Agassi knew comments in his books about Pete Sampras' alleged cheapness hurt and angered Sampras. Despite that Agassi brought them up yet again during an otherwise playful charity event. Sampras is clearly irked. Best line was Roger Federer's to Rafael Nadal in the midst of the contre temps: "Some rivalry."
When Federer instigated the Hit for Haiti in Sydney it was a charming, fun charity event about the poor, afflicted Haitians. In Palm Springs, Agassi, as usual, made all about him because, in Agassi's self-absorbed world view, everything is about him.
Update: Agassi did a faux apology, but in narcissistic fashion used it to blame Sampras, saying he tried to defuse things, "But Pete wouldn't let me." Yes, if it wasn't for those darned victims bad people wouldn't get in nearly as much trouble.
