Google Blocks Anti-Obama Bloggers
A number of blogs that oppose Barack Obama's Presidential campaign have been blocked from posting by Google, according to the New York Times.com.
Many of these blogs are associated with women's' groups protesting what they see as sexist, unfair treatment by the Democratic party.
From the NYT Bits blog, "The bloggers in question, most of them supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and all of them opposed to Senator Obama, received a notice from Google last week saying that their sites had been identified as potential “spam” blogs. “You will not be able to publish posts to your blog until we review your site and confirm that it is not a spam blog,” the Google e-mail read.
Many of the bloggers were affiliated with JustSayNoDeal.com, a Web site that opposes Senator Obama. They include http://bluelyon.blogspot.com , http://comealongway.blogspot.com , http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com and http://mccaindemocrats.blogspot.com ."
Some, such as Blue Lyon have moved to other hosts to re-establish service, but some of those bloggers claim Google is not indexing their sites.
In a parallel issue, Hillaryorbust cliams that the Wikipedia article on PUMA, a women's political action group opposed to Barack Obama, is set for deletion. According to the blog: "If getting our blogs locked down was not enough, now PUMA is having its existence on Wikipedia threatened. The PUMA Wikipedia article (which is incorrectly titled “Party United Means Action”) is in line for deletion.
Wikipedia has shown itself to be vulnerable to certain aggressive groups (such as QuackWatch shutting down alternative health information); apparently the Obama people are now busy trying to keep any anti-Obama news off the site. Wikipedia is a noble idea but appears to be failing under mob rule."
